The creation of system Zones is optional, and may be omitted for small networks. For larger networks, it may be helpful to divide the system into Zones so that Devices may be displayed selectively. Zones can be set up according to any parameters, which may be location, time-of-day usage or any other factors.

It is best to create the Zone structure before adding any Devices to the system as Devices may then be added directly to the required Zone. However, it is quite simple to move Devices to another Zone later.

Note that individual Zones may be temporarily disabled to effectively remove Devices in that Zone from the system.  The Zone can then easily be re-enabled at any time.

If you choose to omit the creation of system Zones, all Devices will be added to an "unassigned zone" pool, and there will then be no option to selectively display Devices. Zones can still be created later and Devices added to the appropriate Zones.

The following procedures may be used to edit the system Zones:

Select a Zone

The target Zone in the list

Deselect Zone

Selected Zone or Zones title bar

Add a new Zone (deselect current Zone first)

ADD ZONE button.

A hotkey

Disable/Enable selected Zone

Enabled checkbox to enable/disable, and SAVE CHANGES button to save.

TAB key until Enabled box in focus (Title is red and background is pink).  Spacebar to enable/disable and S key to save.

Delete selected Zone

DELETE ZONE button and, when Confirmation message appears, YES button to confirm.

E key and, when Confirmation message appears, Y key to confirm.

Change Zone order

Select a Zone and MOVE UP or MOVE DOWN to change order

Select a Zone and U or D keys to change order

Change/Add name of selected Zone

Zone Name text box to display on-screen keyboard.  Use on-screen keyboard to enter/edit required name and touch Enter to complete, or Esc to cancel.  SAVE CHANGES button to save.

TAB key until Zone name box in focus (Title is red and on-screen keyboard displays).  Enter/edit required name and press Enter key to complete, or Esc key to cancel.  S key to save.

Change/Add color for selected Zone

Required color for zone in 9-color box.  (Select a color not already in use, unless more than 9 Zones).  SAVE CHANGES button to save.

TAB key until Zone color box in focus (Title is red).  Left, Right, Up, Down, Home or End keys to select required color.  (Select a color not already in use, unless more than 9 Zones).   S key to save.

Exit from Zone editor

RETURN button.
