The HomeScope Link Building process
is a one-stop operation that sets up the entire Insteon network to meet
the requirements defined during the editing process. It can be run
immediately following editing, or at any time thereafter if settings have
been lost for any reason. It can be run to just update Devices to
which editing changes have been applied, or to rebuild the entire network
from scratch. In either case, once the rebuild is started, it will
continue without the need for any further user actions.
The process begins by analyzing the results from
all of the editing steps taken. From these results, the system
compiles a list of all steps that need to be taken to set up the network
in the required configuration, and the order in which these steps should
be performed. This step will take a minute or two and the user will
then be provided with an estimate of the total time required for the
rebuild, and will be
asked to confirm that the Link Building process should proceed.
