Setting up Cross-Links enables Insteon and X10 devices to operate as a network, rather than just as individual switches for their own Primary Loads.

Insteon switches can control any other Insteon devices in the network and, for each combination of Master (switching) device and Slave (controlled) device, it is possible to set unique On-Level and Ramp Rate settings (for Slave devices with such capabilities).

It is also possible to set up "Two-Way" Cross-Links so that the current level set on the Slave device is also displayed at the Master device.

Master Device Locations are displayed in the leftmost column and, after a Master Device has been selected, Primary Loads for Slaves Devices are displayed in the right column.  When a Slave Device has been selected, details of the current Cross-Link (if any) are displayed in the panel to the right of the screen.

A small blue square appearing at the top-right of the box for a Master Device indicates that the Master Device is linked to one or more Slave Devices.  A small red square appearing at the top-left of the box for a Slave Device indicates that the Slave Device is linked to the currently selected Master Device.

Note that if a separate link is set up from the Slave Device to  the Master Device, any existing Two-Way linking between those two devices will be canceled.  Correspondingly, it will not be possible to select Two-Way linking if the reverse link already exists.

The following procedures may be used to edit the system Cross-Links:

Use Up or Down keys to focus on target Master Device (Location shown in red).  Then Space key to select.

Scroll up or down through Slave Devices  (After selecting Master Device)

Esc key to deselect current Slave Device, if any.   Up or Down keys to scroll through list.  Home or End keys to go to top or bottom of list.

Use Up or Down keys to focus on target Slave Device (Primary Load shown in red).  Then Space key to select.

Clear Device selections

Selected Device to clear or Cross-Links title bar

Esc key

Add Cross-Link  (after selecting Master and Slave devices)

Add Cross-Link button.  SAVE CHANGES button to save.

A hotkey.  S key to save.

Delete Existing Cross-Link  (after selecting Master and Slave devices)

Delete Cross-Link button.  Yes button to confirm deletion.

C hotkey.  Y key to confirm deletion.

Change On Level setting for Selected Cross-Link  (List of settable levels from 0.0% to 100.0% displayed for Slave Devices with Dimming capability.  Sets Device On Level to be applied to Slave Device when the Master Device is switched.)

On Level Listbox.  Then Up or Down arrows to Left/Right of Listbox to change field to required value.  SAVE CHANGES button to save.

TAB key until On Level Listbox in focus (Title is red). Up, Down, Home or End keys to select required value.  (When Listbox is in focus, it is also possible to type in starting characters of required entry until it appears, then press Enter key to select or Esc key to cancel).   S key to save.

Change Ramp Rate setting for Selected Cross-Link  (List of settable levels from 0.1 secs. to 9.0 mins. displayed for Slave Devices with Ramping capability.  Sets Device Ramp Rate to be applied to Slave Device when the Master Device is switched.)

Ramp Time Listbox.  Then Up or Down arrows to Left/Right of Listbox to change field to required value.  SAVE CHANGES button to save.

TAB key until Ramp Time Listbox in focus (Title is red). Up, Down, Home or End keys to select required value.  (When Listbox is in focus, it is also possible to type in starting characters of required entry until it appears, then press Enter key to select or Esc key to cancel).   S key to save.

Enable/disable Two-Way linking  (for Active Cross-Link)

Two-Way checkbox (to right of Cross-Link checkbox).  SAVE CHANGES button to save.

TAB or Shft/TAB key until Two-Way checkbox is in focus (displays pink background), then Space key.  S key to save.

Save changes made

SAVE CHANGES button.

S key.

Go to Expert Mode

GO TO EXPERT MODE button

E key

Exit from Cross-Links editor

DONE WITH CROSS-LINKS button
