2. Can HomeScope be installed in my home?
HomeScope systems can be installed in almost any home that has electric power. Our simplest system use intelligent light switches to control lighting and appliances around the home, and can be installed and set up in a few hours. No additional home wiring is needed.
More advanced system use computers to control lighting, home theater and other functions. The computers can be PCs or can use HomeScope "embedded controllers". Our embedded controllers are very small computers (typically around 4" x 4" x 1") that are preprogrammed with our software and can be installed into the wallspace of the home just like a light switch.
In many cases, the only connections required are power and connection to a home network or proximity of a wireless network. The computer can send signals over the existing electrical wiring to control lights, appliances and other functions.

3. What are the "embedded systems" offered by HomeScope?
Our embedded systems include a very small computer (typically around 4" x 4" x 1") that has no moving parts and requires no cooling fan. This small computer is preprogrammed with HomeScope software to perform all of the required functions. It can be installed into the wallspace of the home just like a light switch. It will be necessary to connect it to power and, depending on the functions to be performed, other connections may be required, such as a connection to a home network (or it can connect to a wireless network).

4. Why is HomeScope offering the Insteon Configurer software at no charge?
The Insteon Configurer is an introductory member of the HomeScope family of products -- including software products for use on your own PC as well as embedded systems (see question above). We hope that you will like the Insteon Configurator so much that you will consider upgrading to one of our other products.

5. What is the price range of HomeScope systems?
HomeScope systems can be priced to meet almost any budget. At the lower end, we can provide components, software and detailed installation instructions for you to install your own system.
You can begin with basics costing only a few hundred dollars and add to the system piece by piece. In this way, you can be sure that the system does what you need without committing to large expenditures up front.
For homeowners who want to get it all done at once, and prefer to leave all of the work to us, we can provide customized quotations to match your exact needs and then do all of the work for you. Depending on the size of the home and the features you are looking for, such systems can cost from a few thousand dollars to $50,000 or more.

6. What is included with "self install" systems?
For self-install systems, you have the choice of designing your own system and asking us to supply the components or, if you prefer us to design the system for you, we will send you a simple questionnaire to complete to enable us to put together a design and a list of required components.
We will then provide a quotation for a package with all of the required components, along with detailed installation instructions for each component and an overall system guide that explains how to set up the system to meet your specific needs.
We provide email support for each step of the process, as well as detailed tutorials on how to manage the completed system. And if you decide that you would like on-site help with any aspect of your installation, we can provide that too.
